Jewellery Care

All of our pieces here at Nero Jewellery are crafted using precious metals. We pride ourselves on providing high quality pieces at affordable prices. This is why we have chosen Gold Vermeil and Sterling Silver as base metals for all our pieces.

What is Gold Vermeil?

Vermeil (pronounced vehr-may) is a  blend of high quality, precious metal made to last without breaking the bank. Unlike gold plating , gold vermeil requires a thicker layer of gold applied to a base layer of Sterling silver as opposed to less precious metals such as copper. This is a legally regulated material that refers to a certain kind of quality jewellery that -

1. Have sterling silver as its base material.  (versus, e.g., brass or copper).

2. Be plated in gold that is at least 10k (10 karats).

3. Have gold plating that is at least 2.5 microns thick.

What is Sterling Silver?

Sterling silver also referred to as Silver 925, typically 92.5% pure silver and which means there are 925 pieces per thousand silver. It is a durable and valuable metal perfect for crafting jewellery.
